BEATS OF COLOURS

ABOUT

BEATS OF COLOURS is a 25 minute documentary exploring the lives of two Latin American performers living in Australia— one pianist and one tango dancer, bound by a love of Latin-American music. It was shot over the course of a few months in 2022, on weekends and odd days here and there.

It was shot mainly using my own gear (Sony A7s3, various Nanlites, grids, etc), but for the final day, we hired out some RBGWW panels and a few RGB tubes. It was a fun shoot, with an intensity and scrappiness that I found refreshing after working on larger projects. The screenshots above were graded by myself, however the final colour grade was completed by Marco Ruiz.

BEATS OF COLOURS was an international project from its inception, bringing together crew from all around the world to tell a multicultural story. It premired on Channel 31 on CTV+ in December 2022, and will gain wider distribution in 2023.
