SWEET
ABOUT
SWEET is a 12 minute short drama that explores the complexities of an estranged mother-daughter relationship, and the repercussions of a traumatic sexual assault. It’s a meditative film that aims to unravel the intimate, persoanal moments of a teenage girl.
Directed by Annabel Newland and produced by Ruby Langsworth, we created this short as the final project in our Bachelors at AFTRS. Having crowdfunded a respectable amount, we were able to rent a solid gear list from Panavision: an Arri Alexa Mini kit and Primo lenses, among others. It was a challenging shoot that required us to adapt to unplanned weather and location changes, as well as work through covid restrictions. Similarly to Bottleneck, the camera style is very fluid and relies a lot on motion to capture the dynamic performances.
SWEET is currently in distribution, having been submitted to festivals such as Sydney Film Festival and Flickerfest.
